Laptop gone bad already

Not sure how that happened, but the laptop I bought my dad has seem to gone bonkers. The dvd player wont eject and besides that its having some problems starting up. So now my task is to get it and try to get it replaced or fixed in the space of one night. Since the laptop came in via my Dads friend last night and another one of our friends comes in today to bring it back home tomorrow. Thanks alot Dad! Not much time, but we will see how it goes. Praying that God will work it out because

1) I dont have the original packaging, got thrown out on Monday
2) I dont have the original receipt, I left it in jamaica and it got lost

God work a miracle for me that I get the laptop replaced and ready for return to jamaica tomorrow. Thank you!

Rambling at the airport

I have dreamed of this moment for years. Never knew when I would get here exactly, but It was inevitable. Imagine I am making an entry on my blog from a laptop connected to the internet with no wires. Tempted to shout "Look ma, No wires!" Back in 1995 when I first got introduced to the internet and even prior when my fascination for the growing network got started I knew this day would come. For such a long time after that I could never afford a laptop, much less internet access, that was more of a dream than anything else. Well! Dream realised. Who was it that said that dreams are only dreams unless they are made goals was proved wrong today because I didnt exactly plan this! Back from dream world! This laptop isnt mine actually. Oh yes I did buy it! But for my father I will hold off on buying mine for a little bit mostly because I know that if I bought a laptop right now I wouldnt be using it much. I use a computer for 8 hours everyday at work and then I go home some days and use it for another hour or so. And since im cutting back on computer usage time, where would I find time to use a laptop? I am still going to buy one soon tho because I need to start learning C#. I will also keep my eyes open for good deals. My dad will love this one tho!

Still No Laptop

I tried! I mean I wanted to buy a laptop for my father. There were supposed be big sales going on on Tuesday, July 4, but nope! I went to Brandsmart, Best Buy, Circuit City and CompuUSA. No real sales to mention, not on laptops at least. There was this one sale for an Acer laptop, it was going for $399 after a $150 mail in rebate. Not sure I should trust Acer or mail in rebates, so I didnt buy it. O well. As for a laptop for myself, I will have to postpone that as well. I just spent $460 on my lower jaw, doing gum surgery. I suppose it will be worth it in years to come. My gums are not bleeding much anymore and I can see alot of healing going on on the gumline. So praise God for that! I trust that it wasnt a mistake to spend all that dough. And to think they want me to do my upper jaw as well. For another $460, no way. The dentist did say that it was my lower jaw that needed it most and that was the jaw that was bleeding. Guess what ladies! Its safe to kiss me again.

Jamaica

Just got back from jamaica. What can I say alot has changed but still alot is the same. What did I really expect though? That is exactly how its always going to be. I am glad I left MCS. I went to pay my old job a visit and I found things almost exactly the way I left them and that is not a good thing. They really need to clean out that back room at least and make it look more professional. But it was good to see familiar faces. Praise and worship at church is now completely awesome. Good job guys, ecspecially Andre. I know he works hard as the leader of that group, but I realise it is definitely a team effort. Same with friday night meetings. They have managed to make the meeting very lively and I give God the glory for that. Zico and Kareen look very good together and so do Nigel and Keeva and even Shane and Melissa.

Quick update on the laptop

Still havent gotten one yet. I went to best buy to see what 14" looks like and I dont mind it. Its not that small and is pretty fine for my purposes and intent. So I will look to be purchasing in the upcoming months after my vacations and I start sorting out my finances.

ATL!

Georgia is very different from florida. I would move there in a heartbeat if I could. And maybe I can. What I was impressed about the most was the trees. Some people might call it bush, but I really like the more conservative atmosphere. If there is one thing that everyone keeps talking about, it is the prices of houses in Georgia. A small two bed-room apartment can buy a nice 3 bedroom house in Georgia and almost a bigger 4 bedroom one. I was told that Georgia has the most churches per square mile in the United States. It could very well be true because I saw a lot of them. There are also a lot of black people which is nice and alot of universities.

I was there visiting with a friend Faith-Ann, who I know from jamaica. We spent the fist day in downtown Atlanta where we visited the Bodies exhibit (http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/) at the atlanta civic center and then we strolled over to the georgia aquarium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Aquarium). Both were very good except a bit overpriced maybe. Probably one of the highlights of the day was the jamaican restaurant we stopped to pick up jerk chicken on the way back to her house. Felt just like home, complete with a drunk dread dancing to the music out front. I hope to go back soon.

Laptop

Still havent gotten my laptop yet. I got a little side tracked with that. Im gonna go buy bestbuy today hopefully to see what a 14 inch monitor looks like. I have to know if I can live with a computer screen that small.

School

Ive been back and forth about going to do another degree. Ive decided to persue it as far as I can. I put in a request for my gre scores. When I get those I will take it from there. Im also contemplating take a course on trading on the stock market using options. I however need $$$ to start the course, currently looking for a loan. Its not that I dont have the money, but Id rather leverage with financing. Another plus is that it would help me to build up my credit rating. As they say credit is more important in america then money. Im not sure how true that statement is, but so far it seems to be valid.

Shopping for a laptop

If Im going to start learning C# again I am going to need a laptop. I thought that maybe I would buy one of those cheap dells. All I really need is 512MB memory, and a DVD drive. I found all I was looking for for just over $600. The Inspiron B120.

The only caveat is that screen is a little bit smaller than I would like. But for $600 I will accept that. Just looked at the site its actually $499 after mail in rebate. Looks like we have a winner.

Thinking about C#

I like php, honestly I do. Its just that these days I am thinking that I need to change my programming language. Not that I hate php, but C# is just alot more attractive at this point in time.

First Post

Currently at work. I should be trying to fix bugs, but I need a break. So I decided to start a blog. Makes sense!
